Oracle America Inc. filed an infringement lawsuit against StratisCom LLC.

Contentions

PLAINTIFF'S CONTENTIONS:
Plaintiff accused StratisCom of misappropriating and distributing its copyrighted, proprietary software code. Plaintiff also accused defendant of misappropriating and unlawfully distributing plaintiff's login credentials necessary to download the code from any of plaintiff's password-protected websites. Plaintiff asserted claims of copyright infringement, violations of the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act, and breach of contract.

Result

The parties entered into a stipulated judgment whereby StratisCom agreed to pay Oracle $200,000 in settlement of the dispute. In addition, StratisCom was permanently enjoined from, among others, distributing or otherwise misappropriating Oracle's credentials so as to allow others to access Oracle's software.
