Daily Journal: How did you prepare and train to become a neutral?

Chernick: I developed an interest in arbitration as a young associate at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher. It was a way to get first-chair trial experience earlier than would have been permitted in court litigation. I became the firm's expert on ADR before anyone knew what ADR was.
