Williams: It is as simple and complicated as "playing through the hard space." The mediator must keep the resolution conversation going. A few things that work are asking for help from the parties and counsel, negotiating about deal points and form of a settlement agreement, or simply taking a break and taking everyone outside for some fresh air.
