They may clash over their clients' claims, but attorneys on both sides of agree on one thing: their mediator, Sherman Smith, Jr. is calm.

Smith, a retired Los Angeles Superior Court judge and JAMS neutral, is famous for keeping his cool and making sure the lawyers and clients who bring their cases to him do the same. His presence has even been described as "soothing."
