Business disputes these days are being resolved with a new twist.
"I have included in settlements not only dollars but terms involving discounts," Fields said.
For instance, in one of her business litigation cases that settled recently, in addition to the defendants paying cash, part of the terms included a 70 percent discount over two years for certain pieces of equipment the plaintiff needed in the product line.
