Bankruptcy lawyers defend fees on their own dime?
Many lawyer jokes are about attorney fees. But bankruptcy lawyers didn't find anything funny last April when the 5th Circuit held that they cannot seek fees for time they spend defending their own fee applications.

Many lawyer jokes are about attorney fees. But bankruptcy lawyers didn't find anything to laugh about last April when the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals held that they cannot seek fees for time they spend defending their own fee applications. The U.S. Supreme Court agreed to review that question last week, granting review in Baker Botts LLP v. ASARCO LLC. The case will resolve a split between the 9th Circuit, which authorizes such fees, and the 5th Circuit, which does not.
