Reading the forbidden fruit

In celebration of its 60th anniversary, PEN Center USA hosted "Forbidden Fruit: Readings From Banned Works of Literature" on Sunday in Los Angeles. The literary non profit seeks to defend freedom of expression, along with stimulating interest in the written word. In attendance on Sunday was Matt Galsor, chair of the entertainment group at Greenberg Glusker Fields Claman & Machtinger LLP. "Freedom of expression is the foundation of all other freedoms," Galsor said. "It's morally imperative for all of us, especially those in the entertainment community, to stand firmly and uncompromisingly against any assault on it by any government anywhere in the world. Banning books is banning freedom." Natashia D. Saunders, a Santa Clarita-based sole practitioner who focuses on conviction and criminal defense work, also spoke at the event. Greenberg Glusker served as a corporate sponsor. - Ryne Hodkowski
