Seniors and their families will have more timely resolution of elder abuse claims thanks to Gov. Jerry Brown, who this week signed Senate Bill 1065. This narrow but important bill will help elders who are sick and dying and have received a trial preference in an elder abuse case to get their day in court quickly, rather than being delayed by an appellate process that can take two to three years or more.
