Tribal Cops Have Regular Immunity
Tribal law enforcement officers have no more protection from lawsuits than other public officials, a state appellate court has ruled. The 4th District Court of Appeal in Riverside has ruled that three San Manuel tribal law enforcement officers, accused of beating up union organizers Reginald Turner and Steve Guzman at the reservation's casino, are not immune from a suit stemming from the incident.
