San Diego attorney lauded for principled practice

Susan Hack, a partner at San Diego-based Higgs Fletcher & Mack, was awarded the prestigious Daniel T. Broderick III award at the 29th annual Red Boudreau Trial Lawyers' celebration on Aug. 2. The award recognizes a private practice lawyer with a substantial body of civil litigation experience who epitomizes the highest principles of civility, integrity and professionalism. The award was established in 1990 after Broderick, a well respected trial attorney known for his civility and leadership, died tragically in 1989. In her acceptance speech, Hack reminded the audience of Broderick's accomplishments and asked that the community honor his legacy by remembering him for what he did. "I challenge myself and my firm and all of you [attorneys and judges], when you are training your associates and teaching and mentoring new lawyers, to remember Dan's legacy and to tell those stories," she said, according to the firm. "And if we just do that, then I believe that the future of our legal community is bright." — Ben Adlin
