Forgiving the Unrepentant Criminal, a Victim’s Choice

I have not read Professor Susan Miller's book, "After the Crime." Yet, based upon the excerpt that appeared on May 13, "Restorative Justice: When Victims Forgive," one must be careful not to draw what may be confusing and erroneous conclusions from the article.

In short, our Judeo-Christian heritage demands that victims of crime not feel obligated to forgive an unrepentant criminal. To be sure, forgiveness is a foundational pillar within both Judaism and Christianity. Still, Script...
