The other night I was watching Bill Maher and his guests discuss the seemingly insatiable need for closure on the missing Malaysia Airlines flight. Maher observed that the continuing pursuit of the answer to this mystery might be a manifestation of the American tendency to never give up, but he then suggested that sometimes giving up, or quitting, can be a very good thing indeed. He mentioned that among other things, he quit smoking (commendable), quit Catholicism (that was interesting) ...
