Federal Bar Association inducts new leadership
Chief U.S. District Judge Claudia A. Wilken on Tuesday swore in the five new officers of the Northern District's Federal Bar Association in the ceremonial courtroom of San Francisco's federal courthouse. The new members include incoming president Edward R. Reines of Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP; secretary and treasurer Susan K. Alexander of Robbins Geller Rudman & Dowd LLP; vice president for San Francisco, Martha Boersch of Boersch Shapiro LLP; vice president for San Jose, Jackie Harlow of Apple Inc.; and vice president for Oakland, Michelle Roberts of Springer-Sullivan & Roberts. It is the first time the majority of the chapter's incoming officers are women. The program and reception also featured an award ceremony for lawyers who participated in the court's pro bono program and who advocated for pro se clients. U.S. District judges Edward M. Chen and Jeffrey S. White, along with U.S. Magistrate Judge Donna M. Ryu, presented awards to attorneys from Morrison & Foerster LLP, Dechert LLP and Winston & Strawn LLP. — Hadley Robinson
