Prop. 8 plaintiffs married by LA Mayor Villaraigosa
On his last business day in office, outgoing Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villairaigosa married Paul Katami and Jeff Zarrillo, plaintiffs in the court case challenging Prop. 8. In a hastily arranged event following the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals' unexpected lifting of an injunction barring same-sex marriage, Katami and Zarrillo wed on June 28 in a sweltering City Hall pressroom packed with reporters, camera crews and the few friends who managed to find standing room amid the scrum. — Ben Adlin
