Black Prosecutors Association of LA cheers trailblazers
The Black Prosecutors Association of Los Angeles held its Alfred Jenkins Scholarship Awards Dinner, titled "Champions of Justice," at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel on June 13. The organization honored state Attorney General Kamala Harris, U.S. Attorney Andre Birotte Jr. of the Central District, Los Angeles District Attorney Jackie Lacey and Los Angeles County Public Defender Ronald Brown. Harris, Birotte, Lacey and Brown are the first African-Americans to head their respective agencies. Harris and Lacey are also the first women to hold their agencies' top spots. — Ben Adlin
