Sacramento - The state has been unable to convert its booming economic prosperity into home ownership opportunities for working families, according to the California Building Industry Association.
Based on statistics from the U.S. Bureau of the Census, California's home ownership rate dropped to 55.8 percent in the third quarter. The figure is 11 points below the national average. Only New York has a lower percentage.
