New law may change incentives for rooftop solar power
Solar installations have soared in California in recent years, but a new law raises questions about a rule that allows residences and businesses to sell their excess solar power back to the utilities.

Rooftop solar installations have soared in California in recent years, and many credit that success to a rule that allows residences and businesses to sell their excess solar power back to the utilities. But that economic incentive could change under a bill Gov. Jerry Brown recently signed, which is leaving the solar industry, and lawyers working in the sector, with questions over the future.
