Orrick hosts annual diversity day

Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP hosted its fifth annual diversity and inclusion "dive/in" day on Wednesday. The firm's San Francisco office held a lunch event featuring a presentation by the Bayview Hunters Point Center for Arts and Technology, or BAYCAT, and an evening event with lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender rights advocate Chaz Bono. During the lunch event, Villy Wang, founder, president & CEO of BAYCAT, explained the organization's mission of providing free classes and work experience in media and design to underserved youth. Wang, who was an attorney at Morrison & Foerster LLP from 1990 to 1993, said BAYCAT accepts donations but would prefer to have companies hire the organization's studio to undertake media projects. BAYCAT has created promotional videos, logos and other marketing materials for Bank of the West, the UC Berkeley and Yahoo Inc. "Don't feel sorry for us," Wang said. "Hire us." — Joshua Sebold
