OC court lauds temporary judges
The Orange County Superior Court held an appreciation event in honor of its temporary judges on Nov. 7. This year 194 temporary judges volunteered a total of more than 6,400 hours of their time to the court, service court staff said is especially valuable in the difficult budgetary climate. Several judges, commissioners and staff members attended the event in support of the temporary judges, a group of attorneys who assist the court by sitting on assignment in small claims and traffic courts and by assisting with settlement of various cases.Attorney Michael G. Balmages of Balmages & Davidson received an award for volunteering the greatest amount of time to the court and community. The court also recognized 10 other attorneys who served more than 100 hours: Steven Afghani, Christopher Day, Neil Fineman, Alexander Gelman, William Lawson III, Richard Madory, G. Emmett Raitt, Mitchell Samuelson, Thomas Weaver and Roy Zukerman. — Ben Adlin
