State high court rules against homeowners over seawall
Some legal experts had been spoiling for a fight, hoping for a referendum on the powers of the California Coastal Commission and the rights of property owners.
The state Supreme Court handed a victory Thursday to the California Coastal Commission in a dispute with two Encinitas homeowners over a seawall, but justices avoided a sweeping ruling that would have addressed constitutional questions.
Some legal experts had been spoiling for a fight, hoping for a referendum on the powers of the agency and the rights of property owners, but the court did not deliver.
