Students graduate from Golden Gate University School of Law

James R. Silkenat, president-elect of the American Bar Association, welcomed the 2013 class of Golden Gate University School of Law graduates to the rapidly evolving world of legal practice when he delivered his commencement address May 17. Silkenat acknowledged that the industry has a shortage of good jobs for young lawyers but emphasized that the needs of the poor and other disadvantaged groups were not being met. Student speaker Kris Soudah thanked his classmates and teachers for supporting him when his mother passed away during his first semester at the school. "I was inspired to forge ahead," he said. With tears in his eyes he told his fellow graduates to think of their friends and families who helped them reach commencement. -Joshua Sebold
