The South Asian Bar Association of Southern California Public Interest Foundation hosted its ninth annual banquet on March 22 at the Kyoto Grand Hotel and Gardens in Los Angeles. The event honored Judge Peter Espinoza, Los Angeles Superior Court; Ajay Patel, vice president of Business and Legal Affairs for Sony Network Entertainment; and Shashi Hanuman, directing attorney of Public Counsel’s Community Development Project. Espinoza received the “Judicial Appreciation Award” for his service on the superior court since 1997. Patel received the “Trailblazer Award” for his achievements in private practice and his demonstrated commitment to pro bono work, while Hanuman was honored with the “Public Interest Award” for her involvement in organizations serving young people and families with low income in underserved communities in Los Angeles.
