The Bar Association of San Francisco kicked off its 2012 Service Days initiative, established by BASF President Kelly Dermody, on Jan 16, the national Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service. More than 50 people participated in the first BASF Service Day along with the Volunteer Legal Services Program’s Medical-Legal Project to help the Southeast Health Center in Bayview Hunters Point. VLSP provides patients of SEHC with the legal services needed to ameliorate issues that adversely affect patients’ health, safety, and overall well-being. Volunteers on the MLK Service Day, including staff and family members from Farella Braun & Martel LLP, the Hunters Point Family, and VLSP worked together to bring a productive community garden to SEHC. BASF President Kelly Dermody established the 2012 Service Days.
