Lawyers' basketball league hosts all-star game, skills challenge

The Landau Lawyers League held its eighth annual fall basketball all-star games on Nov. 14, bringing together top players nominated to represent their respective teams from each of three ability levels – "A," "B" and "C." In the earlier of the two games, the Clippers outplayed the Lakers, 103-88. The Clippers' Roger Swain, of Felahy Law Group, took home MVP honors. Dubbed player of the game was the Lakers' Ryan Krueger of Sheppard Mullin. In the second game, the Bruins edged out the Trojans, 66-59. Jack Bazerkanian of Girardi Keese, playing for the Bruins, was named MVP. Player of the game was the Trojans' Howard Lynch, of Latham & Watkins. The winners of the league's fourth annual skills challenge, held on the same day as the all-star games, were Kazim Naqvi of Bryan Cave and Nima Javaherian of Bingham McCutchen. Each won a pair of tickets to a Los Angeles Lakers home game courtesy of accounting firm Miller Kaplan Arase LLP. — Ben Adlin
