With Werdegar retired, a short-handed state high court hears cases
The state Supreme Court will meet Tuesday with just six justices, as Gov. Jerry Brown has yet to name a successor to Justice Kathryn M. Werdegar, who retired Aug. 31.
The state Supreme Court will meet Tuesday with just six justices, as Gov. Jerry Brown has yet to name a successor to Justice Kathryn M. Werdegar, who retired last week.
After months of speculation — Werdegar announced in March she was leaving — two names have emerged among many possible replacements. One man will be in court today. The other was still in high school when Werdegar took her seat 23 years ago.
