Consumer protection agency wins mortgage lawsuit
A federal judge in San Francisco fined a mortgage financing service $7.9 million and permanently enjoined it from a wide array of misleading business practices Thursday.

SAN FRANCISCO — A federal judge on Thursday fined a mortgage financing service $7.9 million and permanently enjoined it from a wide array of misleading business practices.
The judgment is a victory for the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, which accused Nationwide Biweekly Administration Inc. of misleading customers and selling them mortgage financing packages that offered little or no financial benefit.
