Former San Diego City Attorney John W. Witt, perhaps best known for keeping the Padres in town, died Nov. 4. He was 86.
“John Witt wasn’t just the city attorney — he was the city’s attorney,” said San Diego City Attorney Mara Elliott.
“He was fiercely loyal to the city and spent most of his career advocating, defending, and prosecuting on behalf of its citizens,” she added.
