California arrest rates hit lowest point in three decades, study says
Arrest rates in the state are at their lowest point in 30 years, driven by fewer arrests of young people and men, according to a new study.
SACRAMENTO — Arrest rates in the state are at their lowest point in 30 years, driven by fewer arrests of young people and men, according to a study by the Public Policy Institute of California..
While people young, male and non-white are still far more likely to be arrested, many of these disparities have narrowed in recent years. Arrest rates are also far higher in rural areas than in the state’s big cities.
