A proposal to reduce federal prison sentences is headed for a Senate vote this month with support from some law enforcement groups while others say it will allow early release of dangerous felons.
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky announced Tuesday he will bring to a vote the First Step Act, a bill President Donald J. Trump has already said he will sign should it arrive on his desk.
