In most family law cases the client feels he or she is being treated unfairly. One reason is that these cases are emotionally charged. A second reason is that most clients are not familiar with the legal system and reasonably ask: If my spouse did this to me, why do I have to go through that? It is the lawyer's responsibility to defuse the emotions and explain the legal system.
