School bus kidnapper gets new parole hearing
The last man incarcerated for the 1976 Chowchilla school bus kidnapping won a new parole hearing because the presiding commissioner had a job application pending with the district attorney.
A U.S. judge granted relief for a man convicted in the infamous 1976 Chowchilla school bus kidnapping.
Judge Claudia A. Wilken of the Northern District agreed with attorney Gary K. Dubcoff that the 2012 parole hearing for his client, Frederick N. Woods, one of three people convicted of the crime and the only one still incarcerated, violated his due process rights.
