Arbitrator awards surfer $4M for botched knee surgery

“What Mr. Cozad has been through in terms of types and consequences of surgeries cannot be overstated,” arbitrator Jay C. Horton of Judicate West wrote.

Former surfer and legendary surfing photographer Tom Cozad was awarded nearly $4 million in an arbitration with Kaiser Permanente of a medical malpractice complaint stemming from a botched surgery which resulted in years of additional treatment including surgeries.
