Jurisdiction question leaves Girardi’s former CEO in custody
During the detention hearing at the Central District Court in Los Angeles on Wednesday, the U.S. attorney’s office argued to U.S. Magistrate Judge Karen L. Stevenson that under 18USC3145 she didn’t have the authority to review a detention order issued by a magistrate judge in another district.




Attorneys for Girardi Keese’s former chief financial officer planned to argue for his release on $1 million bond Wednesday but the government persuaded the U.S. magistrate judge she had no jurisdiction to make the decision because detention had been ordered in Maryland.
