7 counties are allocated first $2.8M in Care Court funds

Glenn, Orange, Riverside, San Diego, San Francisco, Stanislaus, and Tuolumne counties will be the first to try, sharing $2.8 million to implement programs underway by Oct. 1. Gov. Gavin Newsom also announced recently that the Los Angeles County court will work with the county to implement a CARE Court plan by Dec. 1.

The Judicial Council allocated $2.8 million to seven courts to implement CARE Court programs at its meeting on Friday. The money is the leading wave of tens of millions of dollars Gov. Gavin Newsom has pledged to spend to address homelessness and associated problems in California.
