License fee hike tops State Bar’s legislative agenda

“The State Bar budget, suffice to say, is not healthy,” Hershkowitz said. “We’ve had one licensing increase in the past 25 years and we will be substantially depleting at reserves in order to make ends meet.”

While discussing budget and disciplinary challenges during a recent two-day meeting, the State Bar Board of Trustees agreed that a licensing fee increase will be a top priority when it offers a finalized budget proposal to the Legislature next month.
