Hearings set for claims over Tesla battery and door lock defect

Lead counsel for the plaintiffs argued in both complaints that the Model S involved in the crash had a defect with its “uniquely designed” lithium battery that made it prone to catch fire.

A Feb. 2 hearing is set for Tesla’s motion for summary judgment in one of the two wrongful death lawsuits filed by the families of passengers killed in a crash the plaintiffs say was caused by battery and door lock defects in the Model S car.
