Gibson Dunn wins $375K for protester shot by rubber bullet

Jurors determined that Deon Jones’ 4th Amendment rights against unreasonable searches and seizures had been violated by officer Peter Bueno.

A Los Angeles police officer used excessive force during a racial justice protest in 2020 when he shot a protester in the face with a rubber projectile, a federal jury found.

Thursday’s verdict found that officer Peter Bueno violated Deon Jones’ civil rights and awarded the protester $375,000.
