AG says more money is needed to follow Legislature’s directives

Funds would be used for legal resources to enforce the 2020 COVID-19 Tenant Relief Act, crack down on workers’ rights violations, bolster antitrust enforcement and fund the department’s housing strike force, among other things.

California Department of Justice officials told a Senate Judiciary Committee panel Thursday they need more money to cover anticipated workload increases stemming from recent budget proposals that compel the department to act in cases where a state law enforcement agency requests review.
