LA’s demurrer denied, sidewalk vendors case proceeds
Superior Court Judge James C. Chalfant wrote that the city did not show that the restrictions approved by the Los Angeles City Council were directly related to “objective health, safety, or welfare concerns,” as stipulated by SB 946.





A judge presiding over a legal challenge to sidewalk sales restrictions in Los Angeles overruled the city’s demurrer on Thursday, allowing a lawsuit filed on behalf of street vendors to move forward.
