Much of California's beauty, and its hazards, can be attributed to its natural landscapes - forests and trees. According to the United States Department of Agriculture's Forest Service (USFS), forest land covered 31.6 million acres of California in 2019 and its forests are the home to 10.7 billion live trees. And while the state contends with continuous fire litigation, tree fall cases are also on the rise and are yielding significant awards.
