Plaintiffs seeking end to LA’s bail schedule can amend class

The outcome of this case could be significant. Plaintiffs argue that hundreds of people await arraignment behind bars every day in Los Angeles County because they can’t make bail.

A Superior Court judge presiding over a lawsuit seeking to eliminate Los Angeles County’s cash bail schedule said on Thursday he is giving the plaintiffs an opportunity to amend their proposed class definition as he seeks to understand what such a representative would look like.
