Mistrial declared in prosecution of Los Angeles deputy mayor
The proceedings were suspended after his lead defense counsel, Harland W. Braun of Braun & Braun LLP, was hospitalized on March 2 and underwent emergency surgery, according to court filings.
A federal judge declared a mistrial Thursday in the racketeering and bribery case against former Los Angeles deputy mayor Raymond Chan as his attorney, Harland W. Braun, is still recuperating from a serious illness, a spokesman for the U.S. attorney’s office in Los Angeles confirmed.
