Caltech lawsuit against Apple, Broadcom ends

Represented by Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan, LLP, Caltech sued Apple and Broadcom, accusing the defendants of infringing on protected technology related to wireless communication chips.

A federal judge dismissed with prejudice patent infringement claims by the California Institute of Technology against Apple Inc. and Broadcom Inc. after an unspecified settlement ended seven years of litigation during which the university win and subsequently lose $1.1 billion in damages.

U.S. District Judge George H. Wu in Los Angeles dismissed the claims Wednesday.
