Hawaii gun carry appeal may preview California dispute

Several states, including California and Hawaii, have passed laws restricting guns in “sensitive places” after the U.S. Supreme Court decision adopting the new history and tradition standard.

In a 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals appeal that may be a preview for a lawsuit challenging a similar California law that may go into effect in January, Hawaii is challenging a district judge’s striking down of its law banning firearms in “sensitive places,” including its beaches.
