Website trackers violate Penal Code, 3 lawsuits claim

The lawsuits claim these companies are linking the unique IP addresses of mobile devices to their owners’ identities, and comparing them to previously collected information to reveal personal information.

Three companies are accused in lawsuits filed in Los Angeles County of surveilling their website visitors in violation of the state Penal Code, which forbids the utilization of a pen register or trap and trace device without a court order.
