US court in Fresno details plan to cope with vacancy

Senior Judge Charles R. Breyer of the Northern District of California began presiding over sentencing and plea changes in Judge Ana I. de Alba’s criminal cases on Nov. 27 as she moved to the 9th Circuit.

The Eastern District of California has detailed how it will cope with the departure of Judge Ana I. de Alba to the 9th U.S. U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals. In announcing an interim plan Thursday, Chief Judge Kimberly J. Mueller said the court has experience dealing with “emergencies.”
