Effort to overhaul court reporting dies in Legislature
SB 662 would also have given the Court Reporters Board of California permission to alter the requirements for becoming certified as a court reporter in California, potentially ditching its state-specific test for one of two national exams.




Another effort to overhaul the profession of court reporting has hit a wall in Sacramento.
A bill that would have allowed the electronic recording of court proceedings did not come up for a vote during a hearing on the Assembly Appropriations Committee on Thursday, and effectively died on Friday, when it missed a deadline to pass on for consideration by the full Assembly.
