Lawmakers try again to require judges to receive training on handling sex assault victims

A similar effort died last year due to funding issues. Proponents say judges need to better understand how to handle testimony of victims of assault.

Judges would need to receive training in how to treat victims of sexual assault in court under a bill introduced in Sacramento.

Introduced last week, AB 1846 is a version of a bill that failed in the budget process last year.
