Stubhub mislead consumers with fee ‘estimates’, suit says

A report by the Federal Trade Commission found a rise in companies’ use of “dark patterns.” These methods, which include hard-to-find terms and conditions and disguised ads, trick consumers into buying products or services or giving up their privacy, according to the FTC.

StubHub deliberately misled consumers by “estimating” fees when the ticketing company knew exactly how much the extra charges would be, according to a putative class action filed in federal court in San Francisco.
