Edison settles $80M lawsuit over 2017 Thomas Fire

The lawsuit, filed on behalf of the US Forest Service, accused Edison of negligence after investigators determined that Edison’s power lines contacted each other and started the fire.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Central District announced on Monday an $80 million settlement with Southern California Edison Co. to resolve a lawsuit over the 2017 Thomas Fire.

Under the terms of the settlement, Southern California Edison admitted no wrongdoing in the matter.
